How we find the cause

The big question is repair or replace. We'll always try to get your unit back to full performance. But if it's more than 10 years old and breaking down often, replacing it is usually the cheaper choice in the long run. Once a unit hits 10 to 12 years, that math gets hard to argue with.

You'll get an honest assessment based on two decades in this trade. We will never ask you to buy a product or service you don't need.

What we do about it

For a repair, we fix it and test it. For a replacement, we install the new heater, connect it, and set the temperature. We recommend 120°F: it helps prevent scalding, especially for kids, cuts energy costs, and keeps bacteria growth in the tank down. As part of an inspection we also test the pressure relief valve and flush the tank.

Every water heaters call includes

  • Repair-or-replace assessment
  • Temperature set and tested
  • Pressure relief valve check
  • Written flat-rate price before any work starts
  • Charged by the job, never by the hour, and no travel-time charge
  • Tarps down and shoe covers on inside your home
  • Uniformed, drug-tested, licensed and insured crew
  • Clean-up: we leave it as clean as we found it, or cleaner
  • One-year warranty on parts and labor we supply

Excellent work and very quick response time. I was very grateful they were able to handle my plumbing request on the same day even though it wasn't an emergency.

Common questions

Water Heaters FAQ

Should I repair or replace my water heater?

If it's more than 10 years old and breaking down often, replacement is usually more cost-effective. Younger units are often worth repairing. We'll give you an honest call either way.

What temperature should my water heater be set to?

120°F. It helps prevent scalding injuries, especially for children, reduces energy costs and minimizes bacteria growth in the tank.

Do you work on tankless heaters?

Yes: gas, electric, tankless, and instant hot water at the faucet.

Can you come today if I have no hot water?

We're on call 24/7, including nights, weekends and holidays. Call and we'll tell you when we can be there.
